Value
Board Members
Receive up to 5 hours of certification (SHRM/HRCI) credit per year on the board.
Members who meet the following criteria will receive half off-membership dues the following year:
- Hold position for the full 12 months
- Must attend at least 10-board meetings
- Must attend at least 5-chapter meetings
CCSHRM Positions
President
As Chapter President provide leadership to the local chapter consistent with state, regional, and SHRM policy, strategies and objectives. Effectively operate the chapter so that the needs of the members are met. Perform other duties as required by the local chapter's bylaws. Serve as a voting member of the state council.
President Elect
The President Elect assists the President in overseeing all the activities of the Chapter. In the absence of the President, performs all the President responsibilities.
Past President
The Past President advises the president and other officers and members of the board of directors regarding past practices, general operations, and other matters to assist in the smooth operation of the chapter.
Secretary Officer
The Secretary Officer, will take minutes of monthly Board and Chapter meetings. Provide monthly notice of meetings, special events and general correspondence to all Chapter members and external constituents.
Treasurer Officer
The Treasurer, acts as financial officer and advisor to Chapter Board of Directors - Maintains the Chapter mailbox and distributes mail to the appropriate officer, Director, or chair. Sends appropriate invoices to members. File/provide appropriate forms and information with IRS, financial institutions, vendor/sponsors.
Communications Director
The Communications Director promotes awareness of the purpose and actions of the chapter through ongoing communication efforts and branding initiatives, using social media tools. Makes sure that HR professionals, both within and without of SHRM are fully informed of chapter resources and activities by using existing and developing social media. Works closely with other chapters members to ensure that the chapter portrays a consistent and professional image to its members and to the business community at large.
Legislative Director
The Legislative Director serves as an appointed or elected member of the Chapter leadership. Monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level that may have an impact on the management of human resources. Present a legislative report or update to the chapter president, Board and fellow chapter members. Inform elected officials of SHRM's position on legislation affecting the human resources profession. Work in close cooperation with the State Public Affairs Director and the Senior Associate, State Affairs at SHRM headquarters in carrying out these responsibilities. It is advisable that the chapter legislative representative serve a multiple-year term.
Foundation Director
The Foundation Director will educate, promote and represent the interests of the SHRM Foundation and its activities to the Chapter membership.
Membership Director
The Membership Director will manage the membership function to achieve an increase in Chapter membership, retain and engage current members. Build a spirit of community amongst membership and promote value of membership.
Program Director
The Program Director will provide monthly programs for the Chapter to meet the needs of members and SHRM/HRCI certification agencies.
Diversity Director
The Diversity Director, will serve as an appointed or elected member of the Chapter Board of Directors. Monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis local activities concerning diversity issues. Spearhead the effort to diversify the Chapter's membership/leadership and to publicize successful diversity programs in the local community.
Workforce Readiness Director
The Workforce Readiness Director serve as an appointed or elected member of the Chapter Board of Directors. Monitors and evaluates on a continuing basis local activities concerning workforce readiness issues. Plans and encourages Chapter involvement and activities impacting the workforce readiness arena. Present a report or update to the Chapter President and fellow Chapter members regularly. Works in cooperation with state-level workforce readiness advocates.
