FMLA / PWFA – Update on FMLA Requirements and Trending Issues on the PWFA Under the EEOC’s New Leadership

The presentation will inform the attendees about the basics of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and traps for the unwary employer who should be aware of and potentials for abuse. The presentation will also address changes at the EEOC. With the recent addition of a third member to the EEOC, the agency is now poised to move forward on the new administration’s agenda, including enforcement and potential changes to the Pregnant Worker’s Fairness Act (PWFA).

- Identify key provisions of the FMLA
- Understand employers’ responsibilities
- Be prepared for abuse of leave and how to identify it
- Update on the PWFA and real time changes under the EEOC’s newly formed quorum
About the Speaker:
Elizabeth Jozsi is a senior associate in the Tampa office of Ogletree Deakins, where she represents employers in labor and employment matters, including discrimination, retaliation, FMLA, and whistleblowing cases. Elizabeth also provides counsel regarding handbooks, employment policies, employment and separation agreements, and general employment advice. Elizabeth has extensive experience defending her clients before state and federal courts as well as before administrative agencies.
Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Elizabeth worked as a judicial law clerk for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida where she gained experience working on complex federal cases. Following the clerkship, she worked in Lake County, serving as co-counsel for the Lake County School Board for four years. Elizabeth also has federal agency experience, working at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of General Counsel's office as a summer law clerk during law school. She was previously an adjunct professor at Florida Southern College in the Barney Barnett School of Business.
Elizabeth earned her Bachelor's degree at Duke University, and graduated cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
