    Veterans' Preference gives eligible veterans preference in appointment over other applicants. Veterans' Preference does not guarantee veterans a position and it does not always apply to internal agency actions; such as, promotions, transfers, reassignments and reinstatements.

    About the Speaker:

    VICTORIA JARRETT

    Victoria Jarrett is the Veterans’ Preference Coordinator for the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs in Largo, FL. She administers Veterans’ Preference training for all public entities within the State of Florida. Victoria also handles all Veterans’ Preference complaints and investigations for the FDVA, and influences changes to Veterans’ Preference Statutes and Rules for the State of Florida.

    Before joining the FDVA, Victoria was a Human Resource Manager for the Army National Guard. Victoria served in the Army National Guard in various human resource roles for 6 years, including a combat deployment to Iraq. Victoria earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
